Initial Card State

Notable Prerequisites

  1. An opponent cannot block and kill The Thing.
  2. You control a creature that has five or more +1/+1 counters on it.

Steps

  1. Declare The Thing as an attacker. Its second ability triggers, causing you to pay ({R} magic symbol)  ({G} magic symbol)  ({W} magic symbol)  ({U} magic symbol)   to double the number of +1/+1 counters on a creature you control.
  2. Activate Resourceful Defense by paying ({4} magic symbol)  ({W} magic symbol)  , moving five +1/+1 counters from a creature to Sage of Hours.
  3. Activate Sage of Hours by removing all +1/+1 counters from it, causing you to take an extra turn after this one.
  4. Repeat each turn.

Notes

  1. If you cast a noncreature spell before combat, you can put four +1/+1 counters on The Thing. This means if it had a +1/+1 counter to start, it can serve as the creature with five or more +1/+1 counters on it.
