Steps

  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the Splinter, adding ({G} magic symbol)  .
  3. When the Splinter dies, it and Ashes of the Abhorrent trigger.
  4. Resolve the Ashes of the Abhorrent trigger, causing you to gain 1 life.
  5. Resolve the Splinter trigger, dealing 1 damage to you, and putting a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control due to Vigor.
  6. Repeat.
