Initial Card State

Steps

  1. Cast The Balrog from the command zone by paying one black manaone red mana.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing The Balrog, adding one black mana.
  3. Choose to return The Balrog to the command zone from your graveyard.
  4. When The Balrog dies, it and Ogre Slumlord trigger.
  5. Resolve the Balrog trigger, destroying any artifact and/or creature an opponent controls.
  6. Resolve the Ogre Slumlord trigger, creating a 1/1 Rat creature token.
  7. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the Rat, adding one red mana.
  8. Repeat.
