Steps

  3. When Staunch Defenders dies, Fool's Demise's first and second abilities trigger.
  4. Resolve the first Fool's Demise trigger, returning Staunch Defenders from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  5. When Staunch Defenders enters the battlefield, it triggers, causing you to gain 4 life.
  6. Resolve the second Fool's Demise trigger, returning it from your graveyard to your hand.
